The daughter of George and Mary (Morse) Lee, historian Julia Lee Sinks (1817-1904) moved with her family from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Austin, Texas, in 1840. There, she married and had six children with George W. Sinks. A Texas historian, Julia published numerous articles for the Galveston News and Dallas Morning News .
